情態動詞
情態動詞(Modal verbs)本身有一定的詞義，表示語氣的單詞。但是不能獨立作謂語，只能和動詞原形一起構成謂語。情態動詞用在行為動詞前，表示說話人對這一動作或狀態的看法或主觀設想。 情態動詞雖然數量不多，但用途廣泛，主要有下列：can (could)能/會、may(might)可能、must必須、need需要、shall(should)應該、will(would)將要。
例：She may lose her way.她可能迷路了。
例：We must stay here.我們必須待在這兒。
例：He could be here soon.他很快就來。
例：We can`t carry the heavy box.我們搬不動那箱子。
例：I`m sorry I can`t help you.對不起，我幫不上你。
例：You may have read some account of the matter.你可能已經讀過這件事的一些報道。
例：I asked if he would come and repair my television.我問他是否來修我的電視機。
