綜合利用各種線索解題
完形填空題主要考查短文閱讀理解的能力。因此考生必須閱讀全文，弄清句子與句子之間的關係，準確理解全文。為了答好題，考生必須從字裡行間尋找能夠利用的線索。如書寫和形態變化線索(graphic and morphological clues)、詞彙線索(lexical clues)、句法線索(syntactical clues)、社會文化線索(socio-cultural clues)，並根據有關的線索進行猜測，作出合理的判斷。如：

【解析】單從這句來看，考生實難判斷出正確答案，但如果結合前文，就可以找到設空部分的解題線索——上文中出現的詞彙leaving。故本題答案為D。
